Frequently Asked Questions

Do I sleep during Hypnosis?

Short answer is No. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, comparable to reading a book or watching a movie, you can decide at any time to break your focus and emerge. You don’t sleep during Hypnosis, you are awake and more focused inward; you will remember the whole session and interaction with the therapist.

Am i still in control during Hypnosis?

Absolutely yes, you are in control for the entire session. You’ll hear everything and your senses are working as normal. The option of interrupting the session is there at any time, of course this rarely happens as most people experience hypnosis as a deeply relaxing state, but they know they could if they wanted to.

What if I get stuck in Hypnosis?

Have you ever thought : “What if I don’t wake up from my afternoon nap?” Of course not! And as we said, Hypnosis is not sleeping, but to clarify even more we can say that It is physically impossible to get stuck in hypnosis. And the reason is simple enough, your nervous system will “alert” you for multiple reasons, the most common example is the need to go the toilet. In these situations the body will feel that familiar sensation that, in healthy individuals, will inevitably prompt you to stand up and to reach for a toilet, therefore breaking hypnosis.

What will happen in a Hypnotherapy session?

The first part of the session is usually dedicated to an introduction to Hypnosis and how it works. The therapist explains the method of working and the Client can set their goal/s for the session.

After that, the therapy may begin and the therapist will guide the Client in hypnosis with the technique/s that are most suitable to the Client and their requests.

As the communication with the subconscious mind is established, the therapist will work with the Client to resolve the targeted issues and the emotional charge attached to a specific event, person, trigger, habit, etc..

After the session the Client might feel lighter, more in tune with their own emotions, confident or empowered. The experience is different for everybody but it’s always an insightful and pleasant experience.

How many sessions do I need?

Hypnotherapy is quicker at achieving results then traditional therapy due to the involvement of the Subconscious mind and how profound the change can be, this is one of the reasons why hypnotherapy is becoming more and more popular.

That said, it is difficult to state with accuracy how many sessions are needed, every person is different. Some people might achieve in one session what others will in two or three.

It is not a long term commitment like normal talking therapy can be. A hypnotherapist’s job is to achieve the Client’s goal in a effective and rapid fashion.

The motivation of the Client is of paramount importance and will greatly contribute to a quick, effective and, most of all, permanent recovery.
